Our story

With over 30 years of experience in the kitchen, Marta now shares the flavors, recipes, and traditions she has learned and perfected throughout her culinary journey.

Marta runs Malli’s alongside her two daughters, and together they are excited to share their passion for food with the Keene community.

The Story Behind Our Name:

Malli’s is more than just a name. It brings together Ma from Marta and Alli from Allison, one of Marta’s daughters. Both share a passion for the kitchen, making the name a meaningful reflection of the family, love, and dedication behind everything we serve.

While we specialize in making delicious, authentic pupusas, our kitchen has so much more to offer. Our chef, Marta, loves experimenting with flavors, bringing ingredients together, and creating dishes that leave you craving more. Every plate is an opportunity to share her creativity, experience, and love for food.

We opened our doors on July 29, 2026, and celebrated our grand opening on August 27. We’re proud members of the Keene Chamber of Commerce.

Where can I get pupusas in Keene, TX?

At Malli's Latin Kitchen, 314 S Old Betsy Rd in Keene. Pupusas are $3.50 each, filled with bean and cheese, chicken and cheese, barbacoa and cheese, or cheese, served with curtido and salsa. Add beans and rice for $2, once per order however many pupusas you get.

Do you have vegetarian food?

Yes. Pick tofu on any plate that asks for a protein. The Veggie Plate comes with plant-based turkey roast or tofu fajitas, quinoa salad and rice, and the bean and cheese or cheese pupusas are meat-free.

Do you use pork or lard?

No. Malli's uses no pork and no pork-derived products: no lard, no chicharrón and no pork stock. That includes the beans and every pupusa.

What are your hours?

Sunday to Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Closed Saturday. Breakfast is served, so come early for a breakfast burrito or Malli’s Breakfast.
